Dearwester Grain was created in 1996 by Matt and Andrea Dearwester, who were fueled by a passion for small business in rural areas. The business has stayed a family owned business and has only continued to grow as several expansions have been made over the years to meet the needs of our customers. We carry a wide range of products including, livestock feed, pet food, field seed, small seed, and much, much more. Our locations also offer grain merchandising and storage, grain vac services, pet and livestock feed manufacturing and sales, trucking corn and soybeans, and wheat and small seed sales.
In 1996, Matt and Andrea Dearwester purchased a grain elevator facility in Paloma, IL and operated it as Paloma Elevator, INC. A few years later, in 1998, they purchased the Golden Elevator and the Seed Cleaner of La Prairie and restructured the business to operate as Dearwester Grain Services, INC. In 2001, the former Behymer Trading Post in Mt. Sterling was purchased and added into the line up. Looking to expand the grain and feed opportunities, they formed Nutrition Services, INC and purchased a feed mill in Carthage from Cargill in April 2003. The leasing of a feed facility in Industry began in 2009. In September of 2012, Dearwester Grain Services bought out La Prairie Chatton Elevator, consisting of two facilities, Chatton and Clayton. Soon after, plans began to build a feedmill on the East side of Carthage to keep up with the expansions of hog confinements being built in the area and to keep up with demand. In July 2017, Bentley Elevator was welcomed to Dearwester Grain Services with open arms as a grain and feedmill/dealer. In January 2018, after leasing the Liberty facility for over 5 years, Dearwester Grain Services took the leap and added another location to the family. What began as a single facility with 2 employees has grown to 11 locations covering the West Central Illinois area.
Dearwester Grain Services offers support to the community by sponsoring and/or hosting many activities and events. In the community, we sponsor many activities including little league baseball and softball teams, 4-H, FFA, and local school support. We also host meetings and activities throughtout the year for producers and young agriculturists. The youth is extremely important to our community and we want to help encourage and develop a passion for agriculture.
